Hey,

Can anyone steer me in the right direction of where to buy a central ADSL splitter?

Is there more than one brand or type? Which is the best?

Hi there are several different brands, but they are all built to the same tight specification that is controlled by Telecom. PM me I can do you a VDSL2 one for around $30+shipping, otherwise try your local Mastertrade or Corys.

I see there is a Dynamix one available on Trademe and I think that might be the same thing available at Cory's? Is that one as good quality as what Chorus will install?

Hi, I cannot find the filter you mention on trademe, but if its the one linked below then yes its the same filter just in a different box. Corys get theirs from Signal Technologies, but they are the same part. As said these filters have to comply with a strict specification by Telecom and then be submitted for exhaustive testing before they get a Telepermit.

Be aware that some central filters that were sold cheaply on Trademe are ADSL1/2/2+ only rated, these were the older spec, they physically look the same but dont have the green modem pair, only line(orange) and phone(blue).

These filters (both the old and new VDSL2 ones) are designed specifically for NZ, the physical format (black epoxy box of the specific dimension) is unique to TelecomNZ, you will find these nowhere else in the world.
