Telecom just upgraded my cabinet to ADSL2+, and my modem is syncing quite a lot higher than it used to, but my actual speed is unchanged.  I used to sync at about 8mbit down 0.8 mbit up on ADSL1, now my upload sync has dropped slightly and my download sync is huge - but my actual throughput is about the same as ADSL1 or slightly worse (NZ speedtests in the 6-7mbit down range, even at 5.30am).

I browsed here for a while first - is it  to do with my Linksys modem, or could there be some other explanation?

My modem details:

Who is your ISP? There are some ISP's with plans that will only give ADSL speeds, even if you're connecting at ADSL2+

I'm with xnet.  They told me the upgrade had happened, so I'd like to think they'd've mentioned if my plan wasn't ADSL2-compatible!

Since you haven't said what plan you're on I can only speculate that you're on one of their older plans that only offers ADSL speeds. If you search on here the issue is raised pretty frequently.

All their newer plans are ADSL2+ FS/FS

It's true that I haven't changed plans for a few years - I'm on (well, it was) FS/FS, $49.95/month + $1/gig.  I'll have a look round.  Thanks for the advice!
