Hi guys,

I'm thinking of rewiring my phone wiring and installing a master filter at some point but at the moment I'm just trying to figure out which wires go where and in particular where my ETP is.  My understanding is that the ETP is usually outside however looking around I cannot seem to find it anywhere.  The other day I noticed this in the downstairs bathroom:

Is this my ETP?

After removing the cover I can see it appears it is something to do with the phone wiring and on the outside wall of the bathroom there is a wire leading straight down into a small pipe, however there is no box or anything on the outside wall.  Is this my ETP?

Thanks,

Daniel

Looks like it might be the case
Though that cable may go to a garage or sleepout with a telephone outlet.

I have seen some houses that dont have ETP boxes - its just a couple of scotchloks joining the external wire to the internal wire behind a master socket or in the attic or under the house.

In the older homes there is often no ETP as such as Ray says its often the fist socket in the house, typically where the Black external cable finds its first termination. So you need to identify if this cable on the outside wall heads off to the street termination.

Thats really old! Disconnect the internal wire and then see if you can get a phone signal on just the external... While not an ETP it is probably the original demarc and may have had a phone on it at some point.

Time to find a new industry!

I will have a go at disconnecting it tonight and testing it.  Cheers guys!  Smile  Just for reference it does seem to look a little like this on the inside:
