I attempted to undergo research into the most suitable internet provider for my purposes, however quickly became overwhelmed by the options available.

If anyone could give me some guidance I would very much appreciate it.

My circumstances are as follows:

I am looking for relatively fast internet at a low price. I will not be doing a lot of downloading so a low internet usage is fine. However I expect to be moving country within the next 12 months so would prefer not to be required to sign up to a 12 month contract. I also require a phone line so I assume I would need a phone line/internet package.

Thank you to anyone who can offer advice.

Telecom, TelstraClear, Vodafone, Orcon, WorldxChange are the ones I'd recommend.

I'd say Telecom is the best bet at the moment. Orcon is not bad, but because of the new Genius offering it seems the volume of requests has overwhelmed their support.

You obviously left out one of the most important bits of information... Where are you located? This can change everything...

Ah woops - Im in Christchurch. I've been veering towards going with Woosh on  their $44.99/month connect plan which offers 10GB and a phone line. I noticed you didnt mention Woosh. Do you know anything about their reputation?

Their wireless/wimax product has a generally poor reputation for performance/reliability.

Awhile ago they acquired a small reputable ISP that provided ADSL services over the Telecom wholesale network called Quicksilver so they offer ADSL now too.

Personally I would avoid their wireless product and think more in the $70-80 /month price range for 10GB ADSL w/ phone.
