Hello all.

My router is a Cisco 887VA running base version IOS 15.2.1(T)

In attempting to solve this issue I have searched the Internet and can only find overseas sites. I am unsure as to whether any of these configs would work here. I know there is a lot of ADSL configs on the web that are unsuited to here and wonder if VDSL is the same. The last thing I want to do is switch over to VDSL and get caught with a non working config.

The importer Express Data has not responded to my inquiry with them beyond claiming is is a Cisco TAC issue.

I have contacted Cisco TAC as we have a Smart Net contract and they can only provide me the same links as I have already viewed.

Our ISP only supports the Thompson router in conjunction with VDSL.

What I am after please is a VDSL config that is known to work in New Zealand.

If someone could post one or email it to me this would be much appreciated.

Hi that modem/router was issued a Telepermit (274/11/002) just this month so it is qualified to operate on Telecom Wholesales network. I don't believe there is a lot required to configure with regard to the VDSL2 side of things as the CO and CPE will negotiate that themselves. Other than that the VDSL2 service uses PPPoE to authenticate although there was talk of possibly allowing DHCP but I dont think that is supported at this time.

I have studied it and it is not suitable. At minimum it does not specify the VPI / VCI settings.

Hi, VDSL2 is a native ethernet layer2 bridge, unlike ADSL which is ATM based, hence there is no VCI/VPI to set, as noted all you should require is a PPPoE config.

Thanks Cyril.

Then why, I wonder, did my ISP advise me the VPI = 0 and VCI = 110?

Hi that does sound odd, did they spec any vlan values, these would replace the above, purhaps these are what they want for when the modem falls back to aDSL2 I suspect you should ask some more questions of your ISP, further rather than emailing Cisco get on the blower, they will have a script that works for sure.

I was provided a VLAN value of 10.

My contact at the ISP Vibe Communications (www.vibecommunications.co.nz) has said he will try and obtain a configuration. It is proving to be a challenge though as there are only a small number of VDSL connections in New Zealand and even fewer using Cisco. All the VDSL ISP's I have looked at only officially support Thompson.

As others have asked about this I want to get this working and post up the working config in the hope it will be useful for others as well.

The above configuration definitely works for ADSL though I have put the VDSL switchover on hold briefly.

It has not been tested with VDSL but I have still posted it up as it is better then everything else I have found so far.
