Kia ora folks,

The 5000 series cards are due to launch shortly. Is it possible to find Founders Edition cards in NZ? Specifically thinking about 5080.

Asking as the new Nividia 2 slot cooler looks like they've really worked hard to keep the size down. The AIB manufacturers do have "SFF" versions of the 5080, but thinking FE likely better...

Intended to be crammed into MATX system so size an issue.

Anyone know?

Probably need to use YouShop or equivalent freight forwarding service. Warranty will be an issue though.

Nope, we never get them. Even Aus doesn’t get them either.

FB NVIDIA community manager answers this in the comment section.

Forward shipping or flying over and getting one is your best bet.

Assuming you can get your hands on one, they will be prime targets for scalpers.

Have you chosen a case? Many mATX cases support fullsize GPUs.

The Lian Li Dan A3 is pretty easy to build in and supports a 415mm GPU. I had zero problems fitting a Radeon 6900XT into one.

I wonder how much the 5090 will cost here. Computer Lounge has the 5080's at about $3000 (wild), and that's the cheaper PNY ones.

Wonder if the 5090's will hit $5k?

Edit. That price seems abnormally high. They are USD $999 right? A flat conversion is about $1800, plus 15%, so about $2k. But $1000 worth of shipping and AIB markup? Hmmm.

Could be a placeholder price, but comparing Australia RRP (AU$2k - source) it's slightly more reasonable (~NZ$2.3k with the extra 5% GST compared to Australia).

The MSRP on the 5090 is US$1999. It’s an absurdly expensive card, primarily focussed on AI workloads.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Given what’s happened overnight with the manufacturers share price and capital value plunging significantly, potentially they might want to react and try and get wider distribution and share of market to starve off the threat of competitors claimed AI abilities.

AKA, they may just panic and wanna try sell more units and fast….

I think these things are overrated.

I have a 13900k and a 4090 with 7200mhz ram and I can't run fortnite more than 100fps at 1440p in ultra and dlss upscale (no frame gen with this game)

The DLSS improvements are coming on the 30th when the 5000 series driver officially releases. The nvidia app will let you replace DLSS versions for any game.
