Welcome to the world of mech kbs!

It's a real rabbit hole but I highly recommend.

I personally prefer split ortholinear boards like the iris, ergodash, redox, let's split etc -

I don't want to violate the FUG but I tend to make small batches of customs and sell them on TM. Means I've got parts etc and can help with any technical questions so if you want advice on what to get and how to get it in NZ then feel free to message me on here or beesteekb@outlook.com

Been thinking about getting a Ducky keyboard from Playtech - any opinions on these?

I have four different Ducky keyboards, all with cherry brown switches:

(1x) full size, (2x) ten key less (TKL), and (1x) 60 percent (with even fewer keys, for gaming).

Not cheap, but I love them all. Totally reliable.

The one that I use most is a backlit TKL.

Massdrop (“Drop” now) have quite a large variety of mech keyboards that are affordable as long as you keep them under $250usd.

I personally have a Ducky Legend with blues at home but use a logitech romer G board at work. Have been eyeing a new one like the CTRL to fit the smaller keyboard category but frankly am more interested in headphones than a new board :)

Das keyboard model S. S is for silent, but it's actually fairly loud when I get going. One of my first two that are 6-7 years old wore out so I simply got another - work paid for it which was nice. Cost about $130 landed in NZ via youshop, on sale.

When my home one fails I think this Velicifire at Amazon might be ok, unless someone else here finds a decent one for a decent price. I might just buy another Das though because for US$100 they last a long time.

Another +1 for Ducky. I have a Ducky Mini 2 that has been going strong for 5 years. I also have a full size Ducky Shine 2 which has been great but doesn't get as much use. Both use Cherry MX Blues which I really like because they are tactile and loud but would be terrible in a work environment (at least for everyone else).

Being cheap and never had a mechanical keyboard before (well not this century anyway) got one of these when it was on sale

To my uncultured fingers it feels fine, though if that's supposed to be one of the quieter keyboards...

But am just wondering, spacebar sounds and feels significantly different from the other keys - is that to be expected considering its size ?

I have a Romer-G G410. I hate it. It's completely unlike Cherry MX. In fact my fingers hurt after using it.
