After many messages to Customs, Aramex and Amazon; I finally received my package on February 15th. I promised to report what condition the hard drives arrived in, so here goes.

When I ordered from Amazon, I requested that they use their Amazon packaging so that people couldn't see what was in my package. They arrived in a sturdy cardboard box and each hard drive had its own smaller cardboard box with bubble wrap (the wrap with the large bubbles) around them, which allowed no movement of the drives whatsoever. After installing them into my  two bay Docking Station and having to do a Google search on how to format unformatted external drives, everything is running smoothly.

So, I can't complain about Amazon's packaging, but they need to use a different courier company than Aramex. Very poor in my opinion.

@Movieman, did you carry out any SMART tests to determine the condition of the drives?

Movieman:

I have considered adding a Synology NAS to my desktop set up (DS423 or DS 923), but for now I have settled on the Sabrent USB Type-C to Dual 3.5" SATA and RAID docking station, which I also got from Amazon US. If I'm not happy, I can always buy a NAS at a later date. The cost of populating the NAS is a major expense; at least now, I will have a head start 😀

I have a DS923+ with an SSD cache (2x 1 TB Seagate M2) and 12 GB RAM. Currently with three HDD but I'm considering getting a larger fourth one to start replacing the other three. It runs a few docker images for stuff I have here, plus backups for two laptops and one desktop, plus backups for a mix of Office 365, Microsoft and Google accounts. Connected to a managed switch via bonded (2x) Ethernet. Brilliant machine.

I have been a fan of Toshiba n300 series of nas disks and they come from Amazon in bubble wrap which is inside a box and when ordering multiples they are boxed again. Prices are good and even enterprise are better deals but I am sure disks more noisy. Have had a seagate delivered with next to nothing in packaging and it failed a week later of which I got a credit for.
I have also noticed these on AliExpress - $284 delivered for 16tb exos.

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! NZ$104.61 2% Off | FOR new Seagate 18TB 16TB 14TB 10TB 8TB 6TB 4TB Exos 3.5" SATA3 NAS Hard Drive 6GB/s 7200RPM New

Always wanted to try one of those and see if they are legit or if they are re-flashed drives of different sizes, or refurbished ones.
