Does anyone know how to share the actual win 10 Desktop - when it won't ?  I set it to Share with everyone and give RW access but it doesn't work.

I'm a bit confused with Win10 Desktop which seems to be 'different' when comparing what's on it and what's in the Folder in Explorer (or which there seems to be more than one).  I lost c:\Windows\Users\Win7 which had a lot of Desktop files (but not all). That was shared and I'd like to get back  the capability to copy files to/from it over the LAN.  (My Win 10 which was that free upgrade from Win7.)

And one more problem, the windows logo bottom LH side used to do stuff, now it does nothing.

You can share just the desktop folder by doing to following

  1. In File Explorer Navigate to C:\Users\(your username)
  2. Right Clicking Desktop
  3. Selecting Properties
  4. Select Sharing
  5. Select Advanced Sharing
  6. Click Share this folder. Then click OK.
