Hi,
Just got new computer and went to start it up using my existing flat panel monitor and the monitor is not detected.
Cpu: Core 2 Duo 6600
Video Card: Asus Nvidia EN7900GTX
Motherboard: ASUS P5B Deluxe
Monitor: CMV 17" flat panel

Monitor only has VGA output (cheap monitor), and graphics card has DVI outputs. Using the VGA to DVI adapter to connect monitor to graphics card.

Do you think it is my monitor? Or more likely to be the graphics card?

Cheers for any help

More likely to be the VGA - DVI adapter. Best to use a monitor with VGA/DVI support or at least DVI.

That's what I'm planning on doing, buying a monitor that has DVI and VGA outputs.

I have tried an old CRT monitor as well and that also doesn't work. Is it likely to be the graphics card at all?

You can only say it for sure if you have a DVI-capable monitor and it doesn't work with the card. Even so, make sure the BIOS is configured to use the external card.

Well I will take the PC to the shop I got it built at and test it on a DVI monitor there.
The problem is that I can't get into the BIOS to change anything as I can't see it.

I hate to be the guy thats stating something that so obvious that you tried it and didn't feel the need to say you did, but..

Did you try pluging the monitor into both the DVI ports? One at a time.. one primary one secondary..

yeah I did. Have done all the external things I can (other than trying a DVI monitor as I didn't have one on hand last night). Will check inside the box tonight, could be something as easy as them not plugging a power cable into the graphics card properly.

Cheers for the reply tho.

Does anyone else out there have the same graphics card? has anyone had problems with it? Just as there's a lot of posts online about how awful and buggy the card is.
