I am buying Chassis/Casing (Gigabyte) Mercury (GZ-FW1CA (ATS/ATB)) for installing these components.i.e. two (MSI) Geforce 8800GTX Graphic cards, (BFG tech) nForce680i motherboard, (Intel) X6800 core2Duo Processor, (Corsair) Dominator TWIN2X2048-6400C4D* memory, (Western digital) Raptor X Hard disk, (Creative) Xi-Fi Fatality1 sound card and DVD writer and Combo drive, and (Enermax) Galaxy 1000watts power supply.

I want to know that do the Liquid cooling solution installed in this Chassis/Casing is better than Air cooling Chassis/Casing. Any drawbacks or limitations. Kindly explain in detail.

Thanks!!!

Ouch!

Why spend some much money on a computer ?!?!  Go get something better like a sports car or expensive girlfriend it'll be more fun and last longer!

But if you are rabidly keen on throwning your money down the toilet then yes I would say that it is worth getting a liquid cooling system for that configuration, it;s going to chuck out so much heat it'll be glowing in the dark.
Problem I can see is hooking the cases liquid system up to the dual 8800 graphics cards, the case has a splitter but you would need to find a liquid colling system for the 8800s that will fit in an SLI setup AND plug into the case system.

Personally I think you're nuts to even consider spending that much money on a computer, but it's your money I suppose ... as a matter of interest how old are you ?

Dear Mark,

By the grace of god I have sports car and a beautiful girls friend. Also for your kind information people who buy exotic items usually don't care about money because they give more value to pleasure they get from that item or service.; also they have sufficient money to fulfill their basic needs.

Also I am not asking your permission or advice. So keep your mouth shut and only answer if you know about liquid cooling?

by the way my age is 30 years.

Hi Salman,

That's going to be one impressive system once it's done. As for liquid cooling, I remain unconvinced that it's an ideal solution, having tried out several such set ups in the past.

Yes, if you need to remove a great deal of heat from components, liquid cooling is good. However, that heat has to go somewhere, and I've been quite disappointed in the noisy fans/radiators I've tried so far. The Zalman Reserator is the exception, but it means having a big tall tower next to your computer.

With liquid cooling comes the necessity to keep an eye on coolant levels - yes, coolant evaporates over time - and it's a pain if you change components in the computer. Liquid cooling has a lot of "geek cred" and if you're into modding, you can add UV-reactive coolant and stuff which is fun to watch for a little while :). Liquid cooling will also be more expensive than air cooling.

If you can, look at the Gigabyte case in detail first. Check out how accessible all the connections are, and also, how durable and well they seal. I wouldn't buy one of those cases without seeing a working system first. It seems to be a pretty complete solution, with two VGA blocks as well as one for the northbridge - the only thing missing that I can see is a cooler for the HD. Oh, and another important consideration: you'll want to have sensors that'll spot if the pump fails and shuts down the computer fast before anything cooks.

Since Intel's new Core 2 Duo processors don't run very hot, you should be able to use a case with large but quiet, slow-moving fans instead. It really depends on how much heat the graphics cards generate and I know that some motherboard northbridges run very hot. Do you really need a 1kW PSU for the system?

Your surroundings will decide this too - are you going to be using the computer in an airconditioned room, or not?

Thanks Juha for such a detail reply. I will certainly take care of those hints you gave.

Take Care,
