Having just read the review of the new Intel NUC, I am excited for its release and intend to use it as my next desktop system.
Review: http://www.legitreviews.com/intel-nuc-kit-d54250wyk-review-the-nuc-gets-haswell-power_124251

Would be replacing a 4 year old Core i5-750 with 7 year old graphics card and power supply

The most CPU intensive work I do on my system is convert media files from one format to another and the most intensive GPU activity is 1080p MKV files.

I know that the most expensive part of the system after the box will be an mSATA SSD card (about $200US for a 240GB)

Anyone else planning on getting one or have the first gen version?
Anyone with connections know when this is getting released in New Zealand?

Have one of the current gen ones at work (with an i3-3217U), been tempted for home as a media centre. Anything in particular you were wanting to know about them?

Hopefully we will see the new ones by early November.

Also have an i3 one.  I'd be interested on the graphics performance, as when I got it I was just after a TV computer.. but the humble bundles have caught me and turned it into a steam box as well.  The big games (like saints row) struggle on it, so I'm considering an upgrade :)

We have a Celeron version here at work that the accounts person uses, with just a 60GB mSATA SSD, and they love it.
Performs much better than the old Core 2 Duo laptop they had on a docking station.
We've also sold tons of the i3 version and everyone that has them loves them.

I've been thinking of getting a Celeron version for myself to use at home as my HTPC client (to replace an old Asus EeeBox) but may wait for these to be released here now.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
