Ok I have purchased a DVD Writer from Trademe that was used and well I can't get the thing going because I will show you some links to images which come up when I look at it, firstly I will like to show you what it looks like on my device manager and its this address:

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c130/aarondavys/9a876ea9.jpg

and I tried to download the drivers and heres what it says:

My luck on choosing Computer parts are really shocking lol, is there anyway that I can get this DVD Writer going? it was working for the first couple of days then it just stopped working.  When I put in a disk it shows that the disk is being read and then it stops and when I go into My Computer it comes up with:

So please help

Try downloading the drivers again, otherwise I'd bet on a faulty drive.

Did you every stop and wonder that perhaps the original owner had the same problem, and thought that because it was intermittent, they could sell it to you, and then say "well it wasnt doing that when I had it".

  • Complain to the seller and trademe, and ask for a full refund including shipping.
  • Buy a brand new DVD Writer (they are like, $70).

Oh ok, I will e-mail him now thanks for that and I forgot to take that into consideration (it says that it was brand new but I aint too sure that it is because it wasn't in the original packaging)

"Brand new" and "not in original packaging" don't go well together.

oh oops sorry, I thought it was used at the time I first wrote this thread but I had another look at the auction it said that it was brand new.

I am just wanting to know if DVD Writers normally come with installation disks?

It should "just work".

Have you got the jumper settings correct?
