hey guys- need some advice.

Operating System
   Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
CPU
   Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz   45 °C
   Wolfdale 45nm Technology
RAM
   4.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 400MHz (5-5-5-18)
Motherboard
   ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5K SE/EPU (LGA775)   36 °C
Graphics
   CMC 22 W (1680x1050@59Hz)
   2047MB GeForce GTX 660 (Gigabyte)   31 °C

During U torrent sessins , or IDM my system decides to completly freeze up not even time for a mini dump to analyze- ive done some googline and found
others having the same problem

what would be the best fix?

Do you have built-in graphics on the motherboard? Worth taking the video card out and running without it for a while.
Reseat all memory modules
Make sure the PSU is in working conditions
Check all HDDs
Update Windows
Update video drivers
Update any other drivers
Use AHCI if possible
Clean any ducts/airflow outlets
Run full antispyware/antivirus
Remove unnecessary toolbars, utlities
Remove any startup program that is not absolutely necessary for system run

all that is done bud. i used IDM a while back did the same thing. now u torrent cause it very strance.

Make sure your RAM and cards are firmly seated.
Turn your torrent connections and bandwidth on the torrent client down to very low and see if it still happens.
Try an older or different torrent client.

Uninstall / Reinstall.

Sounds like a memory issue. Ultimate boot CD has MemTest86+ and other goodies I'd recommend you try. Otherwise, it sounds like you might need to wipe and re-install everything if it's Windows playing up.

What other software/versions do you have installed? I had a similar freezing issue on one of my machines that was being caused by VLC and MS Office 2007 not being nice to each other. Got rid of VLC until I upgraded Office to 2013 - no more problems.

No application bug should be able to cause a windows machine to completely freeze up, so I'd say you're looking at a driver or hardware problem.

If your NIC has TCP offloading, try disabling that and see what happens.
