Seems there're precious few Alienware product reviews (I'm after a gaming desktop) besides the propaganda on Alienware's website.  Anyone had any experience with their stuff?

Good, well made systems that are overpriced.

Crikey that's probably why there're so few reviews.  Any other OEM you'd suggest?

What's your budget?
Believe it or not Dell make high end gaming desktops

The Xps 420 would do you. Complete with a 24" Lcd....

I'm just in the middle of building a gaming desktop myself. Cost around $1200-$1500 without monitor, based around a dual-core E8200 and Nvidia 8800GT.

Indeed ... believe it or not Dell owns Alienware.  You're right 1) the XPS's look to be better for money and 2) serious gamers probably put together their own rigs.  Oh well, I'll keep dreaming of having $NZ7000 for a rig...
