I was thinking about using a VPN and iPlayer to watch the England World Cup quarter final this coming Saturday (shock horror: England won a penalty shootout!). Just did a test by connecting to a UK server using Cyber Ghost, but when I went to play a random live programme on iPlayer it didn't work as iPlayer knew I was using a VPN (and hence considered me to be outside the UK).

Am I missing something obvious?

Tempted to try this, as the BBC are streaming some of the games in 4k HDR, as a trial.

Works great with Getflix DNS on our Apple TV.

Another option if you are using a VPN is pointing it to Australia, and using the SBS on Demand or Optus Sport service. Both are free (Optus will give you a chargeback on the A$15 monthly fee until the end of August), and both support streaming via Chromecast.
