Because of my stupid case (no I can't change it) my current Nvidia card doesn't fit unless I leave the side off and that's bad for airflow/cooling... Does anyone know of a 1070+ (1080, 2070 etc) that DOESN'T have the aux power ports stick up? ie. NOT perpendicularly away from the motherboard?

Any other direction would work and yes I am considering desoldering the connector and putting a straight connector on instead but only as a last resort.

Would also be interested in a Vega 56 or 64 if they don't have this feature.

Cheers - N

Would something like this (Ali) work to change the direction of the plugs?

Great thought... I wasn't aware they made these ... It's cheap enough to just order one and try (although the hundred week wait will suck :-)

Honestly it would be close even with those few added mm but could just work. Thanks for the link.

Cheers - N

I've found that paying for even the cheapest level of shipping, rather than the "Free shipping" option speeds things up rapidly.

Totally. The old Yanwen economic shipping seems to be via Mars. I always upgrade to something with tracking...

(ordered - and was careful to get the correct orientation... Still on the lookout for something local if possible - up to a new GFX card if necessary)

I had seen that actually but it doesn't take any height off the installation unfortunately and my case fouls with current height.

The 1070+ cards are also significantly higher than some others - about 1cm above the screw down point on the backplate... I don't know how many cases this is a problem for but it's an unfortunate decision call for me.

Cheers - N

Does your case have space for a vertical GPU mount?

Which seller was that from?

Ive had a couple of incredibly fast ones recently thru the consolidator that many of the sellers use. Annoying thing is they put their new label over the ones with customs details so I cant see what it claims to be inside it which is always fun to compare with whats really in there. I had plastic sheet on a few cheap electronic kits which is about as wrong as I have seen recently.

Tell me more about this... I dismissed this as impossible as they would be paying several times as much in shipping to ship from Auckland to Chch as from China to Akl, but one of the things I bought a couple of days ago has shown up as "processing at depot" already (within 48 hour of ordering to be delivered from China) and I only selected normal Aliexpress shipping.

(Unfortunately not the PCIE changer though - I may have bought a disco laser light or two)
