I have noticed in the last few days that my NUC (BXNUC8i5INHX) goes to sleep after 30 mins of inactivity as per settings, but then a few seconds later "wakes up" again.

It is situated near me and when it is awake I can hear a fan, its not loud, but I do notice when it stops, and resumes.

Even if I reboot it and dont login, it sleeps after 30mins but wakes up again.

It does this all day and all night and I fear bits will wear out faster than usual.

I updated the BIOS but it's still happening.

I really can't recall any changes being made to it in the last week or two either.

Has anyone else got/solved a similar issue?

I've done the requisite googling and found out this much so far....

This is similar to others issues, whereby they have removed the ethernet cable and the problem goes away.

And for my NUC that is the case, it goes to sleep and stays asleep when it is on wifi.

Also recommended is to turn off all WoL settings, in Windows and BIOS.

I haven't done this bit as it seems a bit extreme. Like cutting off your whole arm because you have a sore finger.

And if you turn all that WoL stuff off, then you can't use any app that uses that feature?

I guess the first question is whether you have any other devices on your network sending WoL commands to the NUC or broadcast to every PC on your LAN?

@sbiddle  I use Anydesk and Teamviewer around the house, but that is user-initiated.

Other than that, I'm drawing a blank.

EDIT: if I turn off all computers except the NUC and plug the ethernet back in, then see if it still happens, would that point to there being an external force upon it?
