Hi all

Just was wondering what people's thoughts are on SSD's for gaming. I am a bit out of the loop on what is current these days in regards to QVO/TLC etc..

Is Samsung 870 EVO still the best ? prices goes with it, is Crucial any good or other brands?

I have 2 M.2 drives (1 for OS and 1 for Games) but both are 500GB I should of got a 1TB for the game one. So would like a SSD for my other games I don't play as much but would like faster load time. Some are currently on 2TB spinning disk.

The Samsung EVO/PRO range is still generally considered the best.

However for gaming its diminishing returns once you get into NVME drives.

SATA type drives mostly top out in the 500MB/b? range and the NVME ones at the low end are typically 3x faster at a minimum up to i think something like 6X faster for good ones. You only mentioned M.2 so is your system capable of NVME?

I run a Intel 660P 1TB for game storage and it works very well, i dont have any issues.

Perhaps the only thing to put in consideration with using SSD as a game drive is when it fills up performance does drop.

Samsung are still top IMHO. I think they're up to 890 series now. Pro models tend to have higher reliability RAM, which I had in my old PC SATA drives but for the new PC I got evo because it'll last long enough that when it fails I'll just replace it / restore from backups.

My system is capable of NVME, have 2 slots for it. NVME is M.2 right?

NVME 1 : OS (500GB) - Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB M.2 2280

NVME 2 : Games (500GB) - Gigabyte Aorus 500GB M.2 2280 Gen4

HDD 1 : games / storage (2TB)

2 slots for SSD available, so would like 1 for games at least 1TB, it wont get full I generally only install games that I play then uninstall.

I have COD games on HDD and moving them to a SSD would help with loading time etc..

I've been looking at these, they all look similar, so might go for cheapest
