I have lost my install cd that came with my laptop, what am i best to do? i have a dell windows xp home install dvd from another pc i have. Can i just use that with the laptop and cd key thats on the laptop? then uninstal all the dell crap? Can you download a windows xp iso off the net or is that a bit dodge and install that? the laptop is a compaq presatio m2000 and is about 4 or 5 years old. I was thinking of giving some form a linux a nudge but i wanna use itunes so maybe not. any ideas would be great

You may find that your other DVD you have will only restore onto Dell hardware. 

By the sounds of it all you will need is a Windows XP Home OEM CD.  I have a couple of them at home that I can send you if you want.

You could try your luck downloading an ISO from a bit torrent site, but the trouble would be finding an un-patched/cracked version of the ISO.

If iTunes is your only reason not use Linux, then check out the alternatives to iTunes, you may be pleasantly surprised.
