Have this a shot since my stupid HP printer has nothing after XP support. (unless I spend serious money on a third party RIP)

Anyway, it all works ok, but I cant get the integration support working.

I have joined the XP install to my domain, logged in as a domain admin, logged in as XPMuser, and in all cases going to tools and enable integration, it just locks the machine, resizes the window sometimes, and then after a while tells me that it couldnt enable the feature.

Tried it with only clipboard selected and same thing happens.

There are heaps of things in the device manager of XP with yellow ?'s called virtual PC integration device. No driver updates appear for them however.

Should the integration stuff work when logged into it as a domain user rather then the local user that it creates?

Hmm, started working for no apparant reason.

Beats me what happened but I can now copy and paste files between the virtual pc and the normal one.

im kinda disappointed with windows virtual pc xp mode - apart from dodgy copy paste, sometimes works sometimes doesnt! - it's also so incredibly slow that i'm surprised they released it for consumers (although the RC does suggest it's not quite up to scratch)

good on you

It depends on your hardware really and also if the Virtual PC integration is not installed it will be REALLY SLOW. I had no problems using it.

As for "Virtual PC Integration" are you using the VHD distributed or using your own? If you are using your own, have you installed the Virtual PC Integration?

Speed seems fine for me - can browse in old IE just fine, audio is a little laggy and choppy soemtimes but that's not what its made for. The stupid software RIP for the officejet works fine in it and I can print to it with another postscript driver over its shared queue and it seems to work sort of - just have to see if I can get a better matching driver. Otherwise making a pdf and moving it to the virtual desktop and then printing it seems to work ok.

I just _really_ have to get some more ram because I ahve to open the virtual PC first otherwise it compains later on about not enough if opened after all the other crap that I run.

I hope you have at least 2GB RAM to run a system with a virtual machine inside it... 4GB would be ideal.

got 6 gb in here at the moment and giving 512 to the virtual machine. waiting on finding some affordable 4 gig sticks and I will swap out the pair of 1's for a pair of 4's, assuming I dont upgrade the machine before then.

working fine here, my version is really snappy. Does anyway one have drag and drop support in theirs though?

drag and drop seems to be a no, but copy and paste works fine.

Audio is real bad, and I cant seem to get it to see the printer port nativly into the virtual machine either.
