Hi

I'm building a computer, I got two graphics cards to choose from a gigabyte 7800 256mb or 8600 256mb.
I don't know too much about these graphics cards and wanted to know which is the higher performing of the two.
The computer that there going into is not needed for the highest performing graphics just enough to play movies can anyone help me

I assume you own both. Theres no point in buying either nowadays, but if you already have them then its fine.

The 7800GT = Best if you want to play games. It has a greater raw performance so will be better for gaming
The 8600GT = Best if you want video playback, it can decode Full HD video if you use the right video player/codecs which will be smooth as without any lag. Also ideal if you're interested in TV tuners (freeview HD)

Yes I have access to both of the cards and have to give the one I dont use back the person that this computer is for will only be watching movies as far as the graphics card goes so will only use a low end card.
Thanks for the website as i wasnt sure of the watts which these cards need so I now know that the psu will work fine.
