Hi,
I was wondering whether someone could help me out. I'll cut a very loooooooooooonnggg story short.
About 5 or 6 weeks ago our net connection on our home pc simply stopped getting good throughput. We have great signal coming over the wireless and the laptops and gaming consoles all get good service, speedtests show 10mbs and above all the time. However the PC is connected via CAT5 to the wireless router and the speedtests show less than 1mbs one minute then 6 then 10 then 1 then .5 then 11 then 1 then 1.....you see how frustrating that could be.
All laptops and the PC use up to date drivers, Windows 7 and all the most recent versions of firefox and or Chrome. The Downers techs have been out and replaced all the splitters, connections and tested everything up the wazoo. I even have a new IP address. Run countless trace routes at all times of the day and night to all over the world and down speedtests to different speedtest sites numerous times as well.
I've tried googling all sorts of queries about a wireless connection being fine but the wired one bung. I've flushed caches, reinstalled IP's and DNS's, reinstalled adapters, modems, routers and drunk enormous amounts of alcohol. The only thing that seems to affect the internet performance is the booze.
Any ideas where to go next?
Thanks in advance.
