Philbert: Well - bit the bullet and purchased from MS Store Canada. Even with Canadian sales tax it works out about NZ$250 cheaper but more importantly, it has the dual sim feature which will be great as I spend a lot of time out of NZ and will be able to use a local prepay for data instead of having to carry around a mobile hotspot.....I am also going to be overseas for 4-5 months at a time from next year so it will be a lot more convenient to have only one phone to carry around.

If NZ was offering the dual sim model I think I would have paid the extra $250 for peace of mind but they have missed a sale here due to not offering the dual sim variant......

When did you purchase that? The Canada store is also showing out of stock.

What is with the lack of stock for a flagship phone..? It's stupid.

The XL is in stock, the normal sized 950 isn't.

What sort of battery life are 950XL owners getting? Have a friend with one who is very disappointed with the battery life.

950 XL is now going for $799 on supero.co.nz. We got it at $850 (darrrnnnn)

$500 below RRP

I have the dual sim 950XL (bought from Canada) and very happy with the phone so far. Battery life seems to be about a day with fairly heavy data usage and charges very quickly when the 3A wall charger is used.

I have used it as a mobile hotspot when on the USB charger (plugged into USB 3.0) and the charger couldn't keep up with the drain so she is obviously a bit battery hungry.

For light/moderate use though I suspect I would get 36-48 hrs life out of it between charges although this has not been tested.

Did you get local NZ warranty for your Canada purchased phone ? (I assume it was a Canada Microsoft store purchase) What carrier code did they program in?

Had my 950 XL for 3 days now. It is superb. $NZ799 from Supero. Came in Chinese but really easy to change language settings. Hooked up to my One Drive for Business.

Really fast. Lovely graphics. Magnificent camera. I don't mind that it doesn't look like an iPhone, that can be fixed with a Mozo back etc. Charged once so far, 2 1/2 days ago (not huge use at the moment.

Have not experienced any issue with heating up, but I did the updates straight away so that might be why. Lots to learn for me as this my first "flagship" type phone. Previously had a little Samsung S4 mini thing. Work has upgraded me. Thank you. Really looking forward to synchronising my Surface and using Office 365 benefits.

Oh yeh one other thing, you need to get an Asia to NZ adapter for the charger. The charger is 100 - 230 V but the pin configuration is different.

I got one at the local CoinSave ($2 Shop) for $8.90.

News flash, Tencent will not support Windows 10 phones, whilst this may seem of little consequence what it means is that win 10 phones will have a 100% extinction rate in China and that almost no Chinese people worldwide will purchase own or use a Win 10 phone. (Tencent own run and develop QQ and Wechat..... ask a Chinese friend you will soon know what I am talking about)

Good one Microsoft lets alienate 20% of the worlds population endemic in China and then the other vast population of expatriate ethnic Chinese. How f'ed up is that as a companies product development outcome.

I wonder how much the CEO of Microsoft is paid? or is he running a campaign to destroy one of the worlds largest technology companies, maybe he is getting a kick back from their rivals Apple? certainly seems that way on the face of it, the demonstrated reality leaves one in no doubt that this is the case (ask Sherlock Holmes about that one)

Fixed? Is this due to some kind of peer pressure or corporate policy? Sheep want to have and look like iPhone....

Sorry to re-hash an old post, but interested to hear if you to pay customs duty on your purchase from the CA MS store?

I see B&H have the duel sim model for CA$567 (incl delivery) which works out to be around NZ$650. Obviously customs duty will be applicable, so after views/thoughts from anyone who has purchased from B&H before and whether they're reliable...

My last purchase was from clove, and that managed to get through customs....

I emailed Supero today re 950XL dual SIM phones and they said they were in stock (but not showing on Website) and cost NZ$849.00
