I was getting great battery life with Portico and it's definitely still excellent with GDR2/Amber... 61% after 14 hours with plenty of use is pretty nice.
I haven't got the glance thing enabled, but everything else is. Rob

Had the same issue - the inability to sync - although I haven't used the update as not sure if this is suitable for my 720.......but the sync issues were due to MS Hotmail Server crashing causing issues world-wide. As well as some peoples access to their SkyDrive.

Had the same problem too, 3 days of constant nags about it every single time I opened the inbox, was starting to wear thin.
As for the update, they're model specific, so you cant flash 920 firmware to the 720 and visa-versa. That said, the software linked earlier does everything automatically, so there's no possibility of flashing the incorrect model. If the update shows, you're in business.
Ultimately, there wasn't that much for me in the update. Data sense is useful, and call blocking will come in handy, but really I probably should have just waited.
Are there any downsides to applying the GDR2 update that is floating around? Does it hard reset the phone? Will it cause problems with other updates? I'm keen to try the new features and Telecom always seem slow to get these updates out.
But this will be my second replacement phone after un-repairable faults so I don't want to tempt fate either. Warranty expires in 3 months time.

Your warranty may expire in 3 months but remember you'll still be covered under the CGA ;)

I should state that I've only had my 920 for a couple of weeks, but I've learned a lot (most of it the hard way)
This update isn't "floating around" as such, it's downloaded direct from the nokia servers when you tell it to update. It's the proper (obviously pre-release) carrier update too.
Yes there are downsides you do lose all user data, and then can restore what (if anything) was backed up to your microsoft account. Flashing is supposed to have no affect on future updates aside from one important fact. If you flash a Rogers update to your phone, all future updates are dependant on Rogers approving and releasing the update.
If I replaced my phone tomorrow with a pre-GDR2 version, I'd wait for the update to come normally.

While you're quite right, the reality is, it's like dealing with the school bully that has your shoe. You can have something done about it, but the process is a nightmare.
If you ask me, I say the system needs change. Currently businesses just tell you to bugger off, then when it looks serious, they cough up. Once you initiate a complaint against a company, they shouldn't be allowed to just settle it anymore (settling still possible, just doesn't stop procedings), they should be made to go through the process, and if guilty, be fined and made to fix the issue (If they haven't already of course) and have it recorded against them. Perhaps then companies would act in good faith more often.
Wait until you get all the Nokia apps like Extras&Info and Display&Touch etc. ..or go hunting for them on Google.. there are posts around with direct links. Rob
