Help! I have tried EVERYTHING!!! I cant connect my V3xx to my Hp ipaq 4700.
I have tried every combination of numbers to dial

*99***(1-10)# and *99#. And

The two divices are parred just fine.Help! I have tried EVERYTHING!!! I can’t connect my Razr V3xx to my Hp ipaq 4700 to go on the Internet

I have tried every combination of numbers to dial

*99***(1-10)# and *99#. And I have tried to put  (z;) and (AT) in front for the extra-dialing string and I’m sure that my APN, password, username are correct. I either get the message “No modem at above number” or ”The answering modem has disconnected”. I have no problem connecting my SonyEricsson z800 to the Internet so there is nothing wrong with my subscriber account. I have even tried many different codes prior to the dialing string as suggested in different threads such as: &f&d2&c1+(dialing string) and z&f0+(dialing string) + 4-5 other strange combinations.

The two devices are paired just fine. Help me please…

If you are sure your account can use data services and access the correct APN, then you could try changing the Init string to be +CGDCONT=1,,"[apn]" where [apn] is the correct APN name. Use *99# as the dial number...

Thank you for your quick reply from the other side of the planet. But I’m sorry to say that the result is the same “No modem at above number…” any other suggestions? Bonus info: I have no problems connecting to my Powerbook. It runs at 2 mbps Turbo 3G.

Make sure you use the " " (quotes) around the APN in the CGDCONT string. If you still can't connect, check that you have the latest Bluetooth software or ROM update for the hx4700 series...

Also, try this init string:

Z;+CGDCONT=1,,"APN" (replace APN with the correct name).

If you have never applied any updates to your Pocket PC, visit the www.HP.com website and check for updated drivers, ROM there.

Also, make sure you try the init string with the Z; at the start, as posted in my previous comment. All new Motorola and Sony Ericsson devices seem to require this when using with a Pocket PC.

Hey, now I have updated my hx4700 from ppc 2003 to Windows Mobile 5.0 version 2.1 from HP website ... and it´s still not working out for me. Starting to wonder if they are compatible at all....? Ideas??? With my sonyericsson z800 it looks like (on the display) it stops all active connection before connecting the PDA to the Internet but nothing like that happens with the V3xx. If that means anything?

I'm having the same problem with my axim x51v just can't get the thing to work, I've done everything suggested here as well as on cingulars website http://www.cingular.com/support/setupOTW.do I'm just not sure where to go next I've even upgraded my device to use a widcomm bluetooth driver, the only other thing I should probably mention is that I used raidocomm 11.1 to delete the file named j2me_domain_registry.sm, and the reason I did this was to make it so that I could select ask once when trying to access the web with java apps, otherwise you have to select allow everytime you press a key on google maps, it's very annoying, this is a deal breaker for me however if I can't connect to the internet with this phone and my axim I'll have to find and alternitive phone to use, so if anyone knows of a better 3G phone please let me know.

Hey bradyc

Try using +cgatt=0 in the extra dialing string. This tells the phone to end all connections before opening a new. Works for me. Good luck!!

do you use this with the existing +CGDCONT=1,,"APN" command? so when it's all said and done should it read?
+cgatt=0;+CGDCONT=1,,"APN" I'll try some combinations and report back if I don't hear back before I figure it out ;) thank you very much for the reply by the way I've been looking all over for the past week.

okay I can't seem to get it to work, I must be a dork, what is the exact string that you used? and do you use cingulars service? I just keep getting the error "the answering modem has disconnected". If you are using cingular maybe you could post the username and password you are using as well.

Thanks a ton!!!
