This is more of a generic question than one which directly relates to my particular phone model.

I would like to know if it is possible to successfully VPN using Windows Mobile 5 to a Cisco VPN concentrator.

I have managed to setup what I believe to be the correct settings, yet I am always told that my username and password are incorrect. I do have access to the Cisco Concentrator directly and can verify that I have set the correct settings.

I've tried both PPTP and IPSec to no avail.

Does WM5 require MS Server VPN or can it be used with CISCO?

Okay, I've made some progress here, but I'm stuck at a different juncture now. Initially this is the error message i was getting:

disconnected. PPTP Encryption configured as REQUIRED.. remote client not supporting it.

Apparently the MS WM5 VPN uses MSCHAP V1 to authenticate and cannot do encryption, or at least when I have encryption 'REQUIRED' set on my concentrator, authentication fails every time. This is the case even with the lesser 40 bit encyrption enabled. If I remove the encryption required check box, I can successfully authenticate according to the concentrator as shown below:

03/01/2007 17:18:09.660 SEV=5 PPP/8 RPT=8 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
User [xxxxxxxxxxx]
Authenticated successfully with MSCHAP-V1

Unforunately, even though I get this degub on my concentrator, my XV6700 says to check my username and password as it could not successfully connect and I am dumped from the exchange.

Thoughts?

There are only a couple of VPN clients available, on top of the built-in VPN (which uses the MS server). Have you tried these thirdf party solutions?

I haven't tried any 3rd party VPN clients as of yet. I used to have a Treo 600 and 650 with Mergic VPN and it worked great.
I guess I'll look into a 3rd party solution for this.

Did you have one in mind?

I've seen a couple around. The latest one I remember writing about was a couple of weeks ago (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=6412).

Thank you very much.  I'll give those a shot and post back on what I find.

Hi everybody,
I heve to connect to a cisco pix in VPN from my HP6815. I tested thi VPN client (why Cisco does not develop any client in WinCE???) Bluefire Mobile Vpn 2.2.
The software is easy to configure, but i'm not sure if it works. In fact I need a wifi connection, but when I install the client, the wifi integrated nic is disabled, I can connect in GPRS only.

If anybody will try this software, can he tell me why (in his opinion) wifi does not work ?

Thx
