For some reason I can't reply to the existing thread (It just keeps asking me to log in) but I can create a new thread. The other thread has gone kinda cold any way...

Has anyone here heard any news on an upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 for the QTEK 1010? It would appear that T-Mobile users in the US are either upgrading (Using a potentially buggy upgrade) or waiting for a fixed upgrade (See www.pocketpcpassion.com).

The Vodafone Wow store eluded to an upcoming upgrade, Vodafone Customer Support are a bunch of clueless n00bs (Sounded like an Irish call centre at a guess so I don't expect them to have any clue if a QTEK is a "supported handset" - They tried to tell me it wasn't), and now I just get told to talk to call my local Vodafone store and they just keep telling me to call Accord Customer Care Service, and Accord told me an upgrade was available. They said it would be $49.95 when I called the first time, then $69.95 when they called to give a quote, and now they're saying "There is no upgrade available". Is this world full of fricking morons, or is it just me?

As I've noticed others in other threads asking, yes I miss calls and incoming texts (I have the radio stack upgrade), the SMS is buggy and annoying and the phone hangs with alarming regularity (And I don't use any third party software).

Anyone got a difinitive "Yes" or "No" on the availability or the future availability of an upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 for the QTEK??

You should deal only with Accord. AFAIK they're resposible for the QTEK maintenance in New Zealand, and I was told so by my contacts at Vodafone NZ.

Which Accord have you contacted? Wellington or Auckland?

It was ACCS in Auckland.

Since collecting my Qtek from ACCS I have spoken to one of the Business Development Managers at Vodafone (Being unable to contact our Account Manager) and he has spoken with the Account Managers that were in the office at the time, and communicated with BriteMind (Or someone like that) who imported the Qteks into NZ for Vodafona, and they advise "There is no upgrade, and there will be no upgrade".

So it looks like I'm off to www.xda-developers.com to try and see if I have any luck with the methods they have for upgrading Qteks to Windows Mobile 2003...

Cheers,
Peter

Brightpoint... The first QTEK models came from them. Shame there'll be no updates. Be carefull doing the update yourself, or you might end up with a device in need of repairs...
