Hi All,
Not sure how many frequent flyers (or not so frequent) are using WM8 but I love my Nokia 920. Air NZ released a new mobile app (http://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/air-nz-app) a week or two ago but didn't include a Windows version. Would love to know if others are interested in sending feedback to Air NZ asking for them to reconsider?

It's only a redesigned UI though and doesn't offer any new core functionality so WP users aren't actually missing out on anything new.

Incorrect. The iPhone and Android versions now offer mobile checkin, even for international flights. Also, Onesmart account management. Neither option is available on WP8 apps.

I don't see any Onesmart account management options on my Android version. I also don't see any sign of mobile check-in features but my next flight isn't until January so they may be off until you have a flight able to check in.

Pretty sure checkin only becomes available 24 hours before flight, and I can't see OneSmart stuff on mine (I have a OneSmart account BTW). There is a separate OneSmart App (iOS).

Online checkin is simply a web redirect to the mobile site - so this can be done on any device. It is not a core functionality in the app. Things such as bookings, seat change and online check-in are all like this so changes to the functionality don't require an app update.

The Android world has a separate OneSmart app too.

I never bother to check in for domestic flights anyway.

I notice my domestic bookings all have a "Boarding Pass" link that takes me to the normal bar code. It will be interesting to see if I get a "checkin" option 24 hours before the flight.

Hi All,
Finally got an answer from AirNZ and I quote it below.

Currently we have no date that we are planning to release a Windows version for the new Air new Zealand App however we have had a reasonable amount of feedback requesting this which we are forwarding on to the team who develop the Apps.

Domestic flights have always had the barcode and if you're travelling without checked baggage you've been able to head straight to the gate without checking in for the last 3 or so years since they introduced the new gate scanners which is something lots of people do.

There is however one pitfall with this approach, and that's Air NZ's legacy gate system is horrible and if there are flight cancellations you run a real risk of missing out on a flight if you turn up at the gate 10 minutes before the flight leaves and just scan the barcode. Because you hadn't checked in, staff will start allocating "free" seats 30 mins out if there are standby passengers from cancelled flights. This means passengers who haven't actually checked in can risk losing their seats (and it's something that does happen in the real world). By using the online check in this issue is now solved and I will always use online check in now, even if I'm just taking carry on.

You'll get an email and an app notification 24 hours before the flight inviting you to check in.

I've been travelling enough that I get free lounge access and when I go in to the lounge and scan at the door I suspect it checks me in then. This normally works well except when you have a return flight on the same day it checks you in for that too and if you have baggage on the second leg but not the first it becomes a challenge to get the baggage tags.
