Hi there,

I dont know much about phones, barely anything technical. As I am going to Singapore shortly on vacation I was having a look around at a new cellphone to get and came across the N95. Features like the GPS really sucked me in, and I would like to know if I should spend a little more money in NZ and get it NZ new, or get it a bit cheaper in singapore and lose some of the features. I was wondering if you guys could let me know the ups and downs of getting it from singapore (in n00b terminology) and whether in your opinion it is better just to spend that bit extra and get it NZ new. Cheers, all comments would greatly appreciated. Thnx

If you wait patiently, I am sure someone will help you.

I guess it will come down to what features you want.
What features you will loose.
And how much money will you be saving?

Ok, well the features I want incl. the GPS, camera, mp3, wi-fi, fm radio, tv out, video player and ofcourse the usual txt/calling etc. etc.
Im not to sure about the whole 3G part and whether it is worth spending the extra money. Regarding prices, in NZ from vodafone atm its around $1400. And probably overseas I could get it for around $1100. So yea, is it true that all the 3G services dont work on imported phones, so things like video streaming dont work? Please correct me if im wrong and let me know what you think. Cheers

the 3g features all work fine on my imported n95 phone, only the video "SkyTV" streaming does not work which is pretty lame anyway (5 min "highlights" anyone?)

the video streaming might work actually if i were to put in the vodanz streaming settings.

just be careful when you buy overseas that you don't get a phone that is made for any specific network, and remember warranties will be non-existent.

Im trialling skytv for 3 weeks-so far I mainly look at the news-its actually not too bad.
I thought the sport presenters last time I looked were a bit corny so to speak however.
My 1st time using voda live features

Hello

I believe Vodafone use 3rd parties for music and games and like a Vodafone dealer "looks like Vodafone but is not Vodafone"

Check out http://games.vodafone.co.nz/

You can see there is games listed for the n95 approx 3

If you read the thread about the N95 GPS features, it explains in there that it has only some main roads named.

Ie, it will show most of the roads in NZ, but not their names.
