Hey guys,

Just a quick heads-up about something we think is pretty cool - Joel Holmes, the Partner Manager from the Microsoft devices team that works with Vodafone NZ, is currently running an AMA here on Vodafone Community.

Among other things - Looks like there's a Windows Phone Advisor programme underway to get more retail staff aware of and informed about the devices and the ecosystem, and a fair amount of work being done to get more local apps created.

If you've got any questions about Microsoft Mobile, Nokia, Windows Phone, or everything inbetween, he's there all week to answer them - just post a new topic in the dedicated forum.

Cheers,

 - Nik

I see the HTC One M8 is coming in Windows Mobile flavour soon. Reports are that it is exact same hardware as Android version. Please will it be possible to upgrade an Android flavour to Windows Mobile?

Sorry if this question is not quite on topic, and probably more one for HTC to answer. Thought I'd ask anyway.

Hey guys,

Sorry for any confusion - you'll need to post questions here so Joel can see them, although I'm happy to pass any on if you'd rather not! Just let me know :)

Thanks for the heads-up.  My two big questions have already been asked and answered - availability of genuine Nokia accessories in NZ, and the development of local apps (banks/telcos/etc) for WP

No word on availability outside of the US.

I have a 520 you could borrow for a bit if you like! More entry-level than midrange, but not a huge difference given Microsoft's minimum specs for Windows Phones.

No, unfortunately not currently, but what a great idea.

I have actually PMed Nathan with this query, but will post here as well.

I would like to see voice to text (like Dragon Natually Speaking or the deskop Windows  Speech Recognition) for the Office applications.

Some use cases are:
-Editing or typing a small amount of information is fine, but for several paragraphs or more it would be easier and useful to me just to talk and have it automatically written.
-In lectures the phone can be used not only to record the lecture, but also record and write as typed notes.

Maybe im off on a limb here, but I believe this feature would be helpful to me and further windows phone OS in functionality and efficiency.

Other feedback / questions (not related to the above):
-Will there be further effort for student deals for Surface Pros / WPs?      (Office and MS ecosystem are really handy)

Thanks.

So I'll have to live on the dark side for sometime longer :)

Could be a real successor to the mighty HD2 which ended up tri-booting Windows Mobile 6.5, Windows Phone 7, & Android. Niche, but very cool.
