Just got a reply from Club Imate and was told the IMEI range for my current smartphone2 and my previous smartphone2 were NOT for NZ's, they're for UAE....

She suggested that I contact Vodafone NZ and tell them about this....

So what will happen to my device support then?????????????? Mauricio? JohnR?... any suggestion or things that you guys can do to check with this? I don't think this is affecting me alone, there's a high chance that many Smartphone2 users out there are not aware of this, and should really look into this and making sure that everyone of us will get the decent device support when we need to update/patch our phone with new updates.

this is the message i got from club imate "Maria Merchak"

"Regarding your issue, the device is not in the range of IMEI's we have
for Vodafone New Zealand, it belongs to the UAE region, and you should
contact your reseller (Vodafone New Zealand) for the device. Your
previous device (registered under chief account) also did not belong to
Vodafone New Zealand."

I'm not very delighted to find this out... I really hope to hear back from Vodafone NZ (or JohnR) in regards to this. Especially if the range of IMEI were not "authorised" to be sold in NZ, why is it in NZ then? :-0

It happened with my i-mate Phone Edition (two IMEIs because the first one had the motherboard replaced), but my Smartphone2 was ok. I've sent an e-mail to the i-mate support and they fixed the database for my specific IMEI. Vodafone should flag this as a problem, I agree. Not everyone will be able to download updates...

I could try asking Maria to update or change the IMEI database to include my IMEI in the right region but something tells me that she won't like it... So i guess it's better that letting Vodafone NZ knows that there are IMEI out there that are not belonging in the right region... and get Vodafone NZ to "talk" to CarrierDevices to change batch of IMEI to right database...

Anyway, either way, i'm stucked as UAE for now... *anyone care to teach me how to speak Arabic?*

Got this information from Vodafone New Zealand this morning:

"We had a couple of shipments that came via UAE instead of Australia hence the confusion. I have contacted Carriers Devices to make sure they update the IMEI list ASAP. There will be no issues with support for the product!"

Please wait a couple of days and contact the Club i-mate support again, if you want point to this post.

I should probably post an update yesterday..

Maria from Club Imate has updated my IMEI to NZ region. And I do hope this matter be resolved as soon as possible to minimise the confusion.

Glad to see that Vodafone NZ and Carrier Devices will work on this ASAP.

Now, all i hope for is to find a solution to capture video in 3GPP format instead of AVI... *hmmm*

Thanks Mauricio, great help and get forum support.
