Hey all, more headaches with Bluetooth unfortunately.

I'd like to enable network access for my iPaq so i can stream music/video from my computer. Problem is, the darn thing just doesn't seem to want to work. Here's what I got:

PPC2003 (Bluetooth version 1.4.1 Build 06)
Microsoft Bluetooth Transceiver (WIDCOMM stack 1.4.1.4 (I think, forgot where to check))

To my understanding, its as simple as just assigning the Bluetooth Network a specifiic IP (on my PC) and configuring the Bluetooth PAN driver on my iPaq. Unfortunately I don't know much more than that so Im up a creek without a paddle. Any pointers and help are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

rage

You're on the right way. Do you have any personal firewalls running? Are you able to connect and PING your computer, and if yes, any other computer on the Internet?

You can use VxUtil (free) for PING and other network related things.

Well, I used to be able to connect for Network Access, but now, the connection times out.

From my PC, I did a ipconfig /all and the BT LAN server access returned:
Autoconfiguration IP Address ......... 169.254.171.246
Subnet Mask ................................. 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway ............................ (blank)

I have my PAN user driver set for automatic IP assignment and i have the option "This network connects to the internet" checked under the Work Settings > Proxy Tab.

I am on a broadband connection, not behind a firewall, but behind a router. (IP: 192.168.0.1)

Any ideas?

Okay, update:

I am now able to connect via Network Access.

I forgot to click on the BT icon in my PC's tray to authorize the use of it (duh.) and thus it kept timing out.

Using VxUtil, I've tried pinging google and MSN. Both "cannot find host".

But when I ping my own computers hostname, it returns me the IP assigned to the BT LAN server driver.... Sounds like Im almost there... It seems like a gateway/DNS problem.

Thanks again

You can enter your ISP's DNS address on your Bluetooth adapter configuration, where you have it set to 192.168.0.1. You can find the DNS address by running IPCONFIG /ALL from the command prompt.
