You should be able to use Agile Messenger for this.

Agile Messenger will work, but it does depend on whether your carrier allows any ports to connect. Seems Vodafone NZ only allows things like http, pop and imap. I can't get an MSN connection over their GPRS network at all.

Ben, it's probably because you're using the NAT APN. Try changing it to "internet" (without the quotes), which is a non-NAT APN and will allow all ports on Vodafone NZ.

Ben, does the "G" symbol appear when you try to connect? and have you set up the access point correct?.

When i first used Agile.M it asks how you would like to connect. I used my standard GPRS Internet connection. When you see the G appear with a square around it on the top right of the screen,(with 6600) you know it is connected.

Hope that helps?

Mikey

Yeah thanks Mikey - definitely do have the G! I know because I use Opera all the time, but can't get a G connection in my local asian food hall at lunchtime :-D

Mauricio had the answer. My GPRS APN was set up as "www.vodafone.net.nz". Works fine for browsing and email, but when I changed it to "internet", Agile Messenger worked fine.

Just hoping I don't start getting charged for GPRS usage now :-P Fingers crossed...
