Anybody out there, you're my last hope. I'm not very tech-savy, but I do love my toys, and NOBODY can figure out my problem. Not HP, not Microsoft Mobile, not Motorola, not Sony Ericson, not AT&T, not any of their tech lines, sites, calls, chats or forums. Please read through to see if you can help.

EQUIPMENT & BACKGROUND: For about the last year and a half I've been using a Sony Ericson T616 cell phone (carrier = ATT; So.California). I subscribed to the ATT "mMode" service, but have never used any feature but Office Online. ATT Office Online allows me to easily access and manage my office Outlook e-mail (as well as my personal pop3 e-mail), calendar, multiple contact files, and any other items or files I may have on my office desktop through my cell phone. Shortly after I started with the SE, I added an iPAQ 1940 (Pocket PC 2003), and began using the iPAQ almost exclusively, using the Bluetooth SE T616 as a modem for my iPAQ. The SE Bluetooth enabled me to use the phone as a modem and see the results on my iPAQ. This allowed me to, among other things, browse the web on my iPAQ and also access Office Onliine on my iPAQ or on my phone (the phone hits it through "mMode" while the iPAQ gets to it like any other PC through the web).

THE PROBLEM: I recently switched phones to a Motorola v600. I successfully paired the phone to my iPAQ (as well as to a new JABRA Bluetooth headset) and for a day or 2 everything worked as it disd with the SE. But then I could no lobger access Office Onlin through the iPAQ. No matter what I did, I could not get the iPAQ to access Office Online. I can still get Office Online through the v600, my iPAQ and the v600 still work together to give me virtually limitless internet access; Office Online is still accessibl; through nmy desktop PC and an y other PC, it's just that Office Online doesn't come through on my iPAQ, and as far as I can tell, it's the only internet site that doesn't come through. I've tried evetrything: emptied/deleted cookies, emptied/deleted temp files, tried accessing thru my Favorites, tried accessing thru Histrory, tried accessing directly thru the browser, tried accessing thru a Google link, tried accessing thru the ATT Wireless website, tried typing in "officeonline" "office online" "officeonline.com" "startofficeonline.com" and a bunch of variations, used www and then didn't, used http:// and https:// and then didn't. All I get when I try to access that site is the can't be found messsage you get when you mistype some adress.

I know that what the cell phone uses to access the internet and wht the iPAQ or any PC uses is not the same. Bu7t that shouldn't matter because while my cell phone can reach it, my desktop PC can also reach it. I evenm tried accessing through my iPAQ when it was cradeled, and the same message came up. PLEASE HELP ME GET MY iPAQ TO SEE THE WEBSITE AGAIN USINMG THE MOTO V600 AS A BLUETOOTH MODEM, THE WAY IT DID FOR ABOUT A YEAR THROUGH MY SE T616.

Sorry for the length, and thank you.

Are you able to see other pages on your iPAQ or this error happens with all sites? Are you able to PING from your iPAQ while connected, using VxUtil for example?

If you can ping, and the error is only on Internet Explorer, then you can try running the \windows\welcome.exe program on your Pocket PC (look for it using the File Explorer). This will restore a couple of configuration files that you might have deleted by mistake.

Mauricio,

Thank you for your response. However it turns out, I appreciate it . . . the first solid lead I ever got. BTW, you MVP's are great. Another one (I think her name was Kelly) helped me on a curious XP problem that have everyone else stumped. In response:

It does NOT happen with all sites. I can see all other pages, can go wherever I want on the internet (any working website I try, my own office exchange server, a Citrix exchange server, mobile and non-mobile sites), buit I canNOT bring up the AT&T Office Online site that I used to be able to access 5, 6, 8, 12 times a day from my iPAQ.

I have no idea what it means to "PING" from my iPAQ. I understand the concept (bounce a signal off of something), and I am able to interact with the websites I can access on my iPAQ, but I don't know how to PING something. Similarly, though I don't know what "VxUtil" is, I will surf around and see if I can learn more and use it to check if I can PING. In the meantime, I guess no harm in running \windows\welcome.exe program in case that's the problem. I'll report back on my efforts.

And again, thank you.

You can download vxIPConfig and vxUtil from...

http://www.cam.com/vxipconfig.html
http://www.cam.com/vxutil.html

Use vxIPConfig to get network information and to release/renew a DHCP assigned IP address. Some PocketPCs have a problem with automatic release/renew...

Use the "ping" function in vxUtil by inserting an IP address, local or remote, or a fully qualified domain name in the address field. An example of a fully qualified domain name is www.geekzone.com
