What do folks do when this becomes an issue for them? Quit the OS? Or is there a solution/workaround lurking about out there?

I'm trying to use a smartdns service which runs very well indeed on my other devices. Hence the cry for help, 'cos my Lumia 550 greys out the options.

It appears that WinPho doesn't let you override DHCP settings.  If it's your WiFi then obviously you can change the DHCP issued settings.  Otherwise IDK.
