I keep my iPAQ in the standard sleeve but every time I take it out it has been turned on by any small bump at the bag.

The problem would be easily solved by a small hack to require the power button to be held for 2-3 seconds before turning on. Anyone know of such a hack?

Is it the power button, or any of the other buttons? If you're using the original sleeve it shouldn't be a problem but the voice recording button has no protection on this sleeve. Have you tried the Button lock in the Settings?

Thanks for the button-lock hint - I hadn't seen that option.

I know it's sometimes the recording button as the iPAQ has the recorder on, but other times it's just on without any app running so must have been the on-button.

I have a HP iPAQ 2215 that has just recently started having a problem in that it turns on unexpectedly and drains the battery. I turn it off with the power switch and it comes back on unbidden. I have even discovered that when off, sometimes by touching the screen it will turn the unit on. It is ot just asleep, but off as far as I can tell but keps coming back on. Have you heard of this before and any ideas what might be the problem? Would greatly appreciate any ideas.
Thanks.
