Hello,
I'm thinking of setting up a failover BES server, just in case the main BES server fails. I wanted this server to takeover seamlessly or manually starting the services when the first one fails. How can I setup this? Should I use the same SRP ID and the SRP Auth Key from the main server, setup the users and leave the BES services stopped? We use BES with Exchange here.

Some has already done this with some tips on this is great.
Thanks

Hi Shash,

remember when using the same SRP/SRP Auth if the backup server is powered on accidentally then the main server will be disabled by Blackberry.

The SRP Key and Auth can only be in use once. if 2 servers try to use them RIM take you offline til you call them and resolve it.

I would advise that you take a good look at this document to assist with your decision process.

Thanks Spawnes, good point

currently I'm using the same SRP on the second box and BES services were turned off…. this is bit risky

Well I will repost them then.. to allow all to see the documents that I provided, these are publically available on the RIM TKC as long as you know what to search for :)

Good luck with your setups and please remember to not enable 2 BES servers at the same time or you will be calling support to get you unbarred from RIM Tongue out
