My Treo 600 was bought in the US. I took it to the Vodafone shop but they were so unhelpful. I just wanted to test to see if it was the charger or the phone itself that prevents charging. They said they would not open a package for me. They can't service it because I didn't buy it from them. Ergh.

It is sad that Vodafone is the only GSM provider in New Zealand. I can't threaten to leave.. :( Anyways.. do you guys know who services Treo 600. It could just be a faulty charger (hopefully).. want to test it with a different charger first before I send it away. Do you have any ideas?

Thanks!!

Renaissance Brands in Auckland is the NZ distributor for Palm including the Treo. They should be able to help.

Hiya, "geeks". Happy new year!

Just reporting on the non charging issue I had back in November.

I went to the official PalmOne website to see what other options I might have and found a support link that had an 0800 number to ring. I rang the number right away, and a VERY helpful person with American like accent, almost overenthusiastic guy answered the phone.

He took my serial # which I read off from the back of my phone, and suggested a quick remedy. When that method didn't work, PalmOne offered to replace my phone with a brand new unit. All I had to do was send the unit to Singapore where the PalmOne asia HQ is. They gave me through instructions about arranging DHL pick up delivery, all costs to be charged to PalmOne's account.

While I was arranging to have the phone picked up by DHL, I got my hands on a different Treo charger. And it turned out it was the charger that was faulty not the phone itself.

I rang back that 0800 number. Again, another VERY helpful person with American like accent answered. I told him that it turned out my charger was faulty, not the phone. I asked if he could send me a new charger. He said, of course. 3 days later, a brand new charger arrived from Singapore via DHL express delivery.

I am learning more and more about my Treo 600 every day. It is amazing what this little PDA can do. I am so glad I bought PalmOne product whose support was absolutely two thumbs up quality. I am also glad that I didn't buy it from the cocky and rude local Vodafone store, in which case I doubt I would have received a new charger free of charge.

Gina,

Id send this thread directly to Vodaphone. Get the name of a corporate customer services rep and give the him/her name of the store etc (post it here aswell). For them to refuse to simply pick up a charger and plug it into your treo is disgusting. Doesn't matter that you didnt buy the phone off them you are still paying for and using the Vodaphone service.

By the way telecom now has the Treo 600 aswell, although I doubt a gsm set up will work on Telecom.
