Looking at the Vodafone live section of the Vodafone website, it says that you can access a limited service via a WAP type address(http://wap.vodafone.net.nz/) if you dont have a vodafone live mobile.

I also understand that the SP2 has a WAP browser. Now, how do you put the two together. I tried typing the WAP address into the address bar of IE but it didnt work.
Can this work?

You'll have to change the configuration to allow WAP access. On your Windows Mobile Smartphone:

Click Start, 8 Settings, 9 More, 2 Data Connections, Menu, 1 Edit Connections, 4 GPRS Connections.

Click Menu, 1 Add and create a connection:

  • Name [VFNZ WAP]
  • Connects to [WAP Network]
  • Access Point [live.vodafone.com:9201]
  • IP Address [172.030.038.003]

Back in Data Connections change WAP connection to this new connection instead of automatic.

On Pocket Internet Explorer, click Menu, 7 Options, Connections. Change network to WAP Network (remember to change back to default when accessing non-WAP sites) and try opening the WAP page. Browse to http://live.vodafone.com.

Check this page for WAP settings.

I haven't tested this completely and you may need to tweak a little.

Just tested this configuration. Note that by following these instructions you'll be connected to an Apache webserver test page. I think we'll need to dig a little bit further with Vodafone. I'll talk to them and post here again later.

    Hi all,

Check with Vodafone prob not a handset type that will be able to see Vodafone Live. Vodafone will need to configure a Live home page for this handset.

You may wish to use the above info and try another WAP sites and then see what happens if the other sites are ok then its not the unit and you will have to check with Vodafone for a time frame on access for this handset type.

Some good news on the Opera front as Opera Software today released the much awaited beta version of its next browser for the Windows platform.

    Oops should say see

    Thanks for all of this
I tried the settings as posted by Mauricio and also get the apache page. Using the non-vodafone live homepage (wap.vodafone.net.nz) I get a page cannot be found error message.

Im not busting to use vfone live. Its just that it annoys me that Vodafone say that non live handsets can acces and I cant.

    Have a great 2005 everybody.
