Hi,
After getting frustrated with the missing functionality of PIE, I have been trying Netfront as a possible replacement.

I have found that I cannot view some websites, and get the following error message:

"Browser Warning.

Cannot read page. Check connection.

Type:TCP read."

I am browsing the net via an ActiveSync connection (to broadband) with my IPAQ 4350 in the cradle. Interestingly, some sites (www.metservice.co.nz, www.ihug.co.nz, www.stuff.co.nz) work, but others (www.trademe.co.nz, www.nzcity.co.nz) cause this error. As I can go directly from a site causing the error to one which works, the connection at my end does not appear to be the problem. One thing of note is that both of the sites that do not work use cookies to retain my settings - I wonder if this could be causing the problem? The browser is set to accept all cookies.

Has anyone else experienced this, or can shed any light on the cause? This is making it very unlikely that I will be buying this product once the trial ends, which is a shame as it really looked good.... I see that another user has been unable to get to his internet banking using NetFront as well.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

regards
Megan

I use Netfront on my h4150 and Harrier, and I'm getting the same message on nzcity.co.nz and trademe.co.nz... Either while connected to TelstraClear cable modem network (10mbps) or to TNZ CDMA EV-DO network. Strange, because I've used nzcity.co.nz before - mainly to check TV listings.

As per the bank, it depends if the bank check the browser user-agent string to see if the browser is compatible with Internet Explorer 5 or greater. Netfront allows you to define more than one user-agent and switch between then when needed.

It's interesting that you are getting the same problem after using it successfully to browse these sites in the past. Maybe I won't give up on it.... yet. I'll keep trying and see if it will work.
thanks
Megan
