I have an rx3115 and a motorola v551 phone.

From contacts, when I select "dial via bluetooth", I get an error, "BTCePimCmdApp An unsupported operation was attempted"

The devices are paired, bluetooth is working for file transfers, I haven't tried DUN, but I assume it works.

Tech support for HP and Motorola are both useless.

I went to Fry's where they have several ipaq models available to try out. I found that on models other then the rx3000 series, it works fine, but not with the rx3115.

The bluetooth versions were different:

rx3115:
Firmware version 3.16
Hardware version 1.2
Driver version 1.0
Software version 1.5.0.1600

The working ipaq:
Firmware version 2.12
Software version 1.5.0.2900

Is there a fix for this? Can I d/l different BT software for the 3115?

Have you updated the ROM on this device? There's a version released 8 Nov 04 available for download.

The fixes are:

  • Connectivity: Enables a Bluetooth phone to dial a contact.
  • Supports Nevo Media, which is compatible with Windows Media Player 10 Mobile.

    Enhancements:
  • Adds Windows Media Player 10 Mobile for Pocket PC.
  • Updates ROM to Bluetooth driver build 2600.
  • Updates ROM to iPAQ Mobile Media version 2.0.1.87.

Make sure you have backup of your data, because ROM updates erase all the device's contents.

Hmm. Spent hours on the phone with tech support, you would think they would no about that. It seems like it is the fix I need, but I can't get it to run. I get communication errors on both of my computers. No USB hub, followed directions to reset etc. I can sync fine though. I'll take it to a friends house and try his computer I guess.

    PITA.

You have no idea of how many users come to Geekzone, sent from HP Help Desk...

The best way is to remove the Pocket PC from the cradle, delete the partnership on ActiveSync, and place the Pocket PC back. When asked to create a new partnership select to log in as Guest.

Then start the program to update the ROM. See if it works.
