Hi first of all i will tell u a few items i hav with how i am trying to connect my ppc ipaq to my lan network here they are
-windows xp sp2
-belkin router with built adsl modem
-widcomm 100m usb bluetooth dongle
-hp ipaq 2210 series

Now i have had a few attempts at this and i am having just no luck at all. At 1st i could not install usb dongle because xp sp2 has its own bluetooth drivers but i hav sorted all of this out now and the dongle is all installed ready to work. At the moment i can get the pc to say in netowrk connections that bluetooths connected and my ipaq says its connected but i am unable to use any internet services on my ipaq at all. Now i think this has something to do with my belkin router because my mte has the same as me with no router and his works there must be an easy way or a possible way around this mustn't there????? I think if someone has any step by step ways of doing this i will be better of totally unistalling then reistalling the dongle software and doing a hard reset on my ipaq to make all the settings back to normal because i have changed a few please let me know though. I wouldbe very grateful if someone could solve this for me as i had no luck.

Yes i hve tried those instruction and near the end of that where it shows signal i cna get that up as if its connected but its sneding bytes and not recieveing any ??????? this is why i htink its my router

Are you running any firewall (including the built-in XP one) that could be blocking it? If I recall correctly Activesync needs to be granted internet access.

Can you access the internet using your PC via the router?

i am using this computer now with the router connected to it i have a comp downstairs which connects through to the router wirelessly on activ sync with usb i can use the internet on my ppc but not via vluetooth i do not hav any firewalls i have norton intenrt security for som reason finds it as an intrusion attept but i diasble it when i try connectin via bluetooth

If you can connect to the internet right now through the router, then I'd dismiss the router as being the issue.
Have you disabled the built in Windows firewall from the security center?

I don't know too much more about the widcomm / activesync as most of my time I use the Mac bluetooth.

That sentence threw me off.

What I was meaning was:

Internet <---> Router <---> Computer <---||---> Ipaq

What I was saying was if your computer that is connected to the internet via your router, then it shouldn't be an router problem.

I still think it could be the built-in XP (SP2) firewall that could be ruining your day.

Anyway, I'll let the PPC/Activesync gods take over....

What he means is that even though you can connect to the Internet with your computer, the internal Windows XP SP2 firewall is activated by default during the SP2 installation. It probably is blocking the communication between the ICS and the Internet.

So, please re-read his answer: check if the Windows XP SP2 firewall is enabled or not by using the Firewall applet on the Control Panel.
