Does anyone knows how to set up these phones to be able to connet to the internet using the 3G network?

It should be configured, otherwise try this...

That's fine. There's no username or password required. Leave those empty.

Are you connected to Vodafone?

Do you have data provisioned on your account? Have you used this SIM card for data in another handset?

Have you entered the APN correctly?

Have you selected ISP INTERNET instead of WORK?

I have connected Voda, but the phone isn't officialy in NZ, so they won't help. I'm using prepay, and the phone seems to be connected using 3G.
What is the APN? I have configured the My Internet connection not the work...

If you are using Prepay then you have to buy the data pack otherwise it won't connect.

APN is the name of the access point - the one in the screenshots.

Tap and hold on connection to see a menu with DELETE.

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/shop/plansMobileInternet.jsp?plantype=data&billingMethod=prepay&menuKey=mnit600004

You should have data at casual rate ($1/10MB a day) automatically once you initialise the SIM card (call 777 and follow instructions if you never used that SIM).

Also on Prepay you can only connect if you have balance.

You can also buy $10/100MB a month.

Follow the link posted.

There isn't any difference between GPRS and 3G - unless

1.You are not in 3G coverage or
2.Your provider doesn't offer 3G

Since you are not in New Zealand then we don't know for sure...

I thought that GPRS is much slower... my phone should support HSDPA 7.2M... GPRS works as old modem connection on telephone line...
why did you think I'm not in NZ?

Oh, because you wrote "the phone isn't officialy in New Zealand", sorry.

GPRS and 3G are the same "packet switched" connection. The difference in your case will be coverage. I have a Samsung Omnia here and it works fine where 3G is available.

Samsung told me that the phone isn't officially in NZ so they doesn't support it... ;)
it sometimes feels like in a third world country...
