I have a Nokia E71 - about three months old. I am trying to charge it but after a few seconds on the charger it beeps and the battery icon levels stop moving.

It won't respond to power on button at all.

Is the battery dead already? Or the phone has a problem?

It sounds more like a charger problem. Have you tried another charger? USB chargers are very temperamental with the Nokia's.

Cheers,

Matt.

Hi freitasm, and welcome to Geekzone.

I assume you have tried removing the battery?

Hopefully the site admin comes along and sees your post - I believe he has the same handset, and is somewhat of an expert on mobile devices.

Dear Mr Tony

I suggest you ask Mr Freitas what the issue was as it has now been solved.

I couldn't find the correct power button.

Yes, I spent three hours, removed battery, changed chargers - and I was pressing the wrong button to power it on.

[/shame]

Perhaps the process should have been:

1. Spend three hours, remove battery, change chargers - and I was pressing the wrong buttin to power it on
2. Immediately delete the question on GZ!

From experience, the USB cable on this model of Nokia does not provide power, only data.

This is also an epic thread Cool

Hey... WTF is that red dot on my forehead?

The outcome of Mauricios issue makes the above comment THAT much funnier.

IMO

There are a bunch of USB adapters around that go from USB to the Nokia 2 mm charging sockets like this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Mobile-phones/Accessories/Chargers/Nokia/auction-240247887.htm

I thought Mauricio might have been using this... But obviously not.... They are hit and miss...

Which button is the power? Is it the one at the top of the phone that flush quite nicely around its top ream?
