I work for an operator and i'm in possession of a 6800 trying to update our settings database with the popmail settings, unfortunately I can't get them to work!!
I created a profile containing the correct access point, and tried the mail settings in IP format and normal text format, but no joy, it keep telling me the server info is wrong when i'm 100% sure that it's correct.
Any ideas?????

Have you checked with this provider if the pop3 server is accessible from other networks? Some ISPs block access to their pop3 servers - Xtra does this in New Zealand, and I know of others doing the same.

You say you're using the correct APN. Does using the same APN with a different mobile phone works?

Yep, but is the pop3 server within the same network as the one you're accessing from? If not, does the network where the pop3 server resides allow external access to the port 110?

PS. I've fixed my previous reply, so have a look in the article I link to.

Yes this is actually true of most providers. We actually have our own mail service you see, so it's all within the same network. If this was the case it would only cause an outgoing mail problem, incoming should still work fine.
Cheers! Noreta
