When I tried to access my online banking system, it gives an error saying that I need a minimum i.e. 5 while I have only i.e. 4

Can you please help me in obtaining i.e. 5 for imate pocketpc phone edition

This is actually the server side checking what version your browser is and enforcing that with some silly message. If your banking does not need Java, and uses some limited Javascript you might try using RegKing (Google is your friend) and change the User-Agent string that Pocket Internet Explorer reports to the server.

The server will think its dealing with Internet Explorer 6 and should go ahead.

Is Regking 100% safe, cauld it damage my device since it goes into dangerous terretories such as modifying the registry

does pocket PC IE use a proxy???? just thinking ahead - that's one reason i'm not doing banking on my palm- the browsers requires a proxy.

Nope. It will connect directly to the source. Unless of course you configure a proxy server on your connection, in which case all traffic goes through that proxy. This is only used by companies though.

One thing Windows Mobile is good is administration - companies can use SMS 2003 to deploy policies and lockdown devices. With the new Exchange Server 2003 it is easier to maintain these policies OTA.

ah.. so it's a real browser.

Most palm browsers, in their default mode, request via a proxy - and that proxy alters the html to make it more presentable on a small screen. The result is actually pretty good, with iframes and javascript and other stuff translated as best it can.

but... it means that some third party is listening in.. an SSL connection is between me and the proxy, and then from the proxy to the internet banking site. - and so i'm very wary of using it for some things.

but i digress again.
