Im thinking of getting a tungsten w(pda phone) in the US, probably off ebay.
Would it support a sim card bought in NZ?
Even if it was used in the states prior?

Make sure the device works on 900mhz/1800mhz GSM and remember when its purchased oversea s you will not get much support in NZ

Ive heard of sim locking, is that where a provider(like vodafone or something) locks the phone so that it can only be used with their service?

Correct locked to one operators SIM card but vodafone NZ and OZ do not lock handsets they have not for a few years (2001)

Once the device is in NZ they are quite easy to setup and get going speaking to the right person

Well yes it will work but the device will require NZ settings placed into it (for data services), only voice calls will work straight away. Please also read about GPRS rates in the link below

prepay is $10.00 per meg (while in NZ) 10 cents per 10kb data
