Welcome to Geekzone... This is a common problem: most web developers don't really give any importance to mobile devices, and put tests to make sure their site will only work on certain browsers.

Most of the times the test is based on a User-Agent string that is passed from the browser to the server. You can change this with a tweak program such as Tweaks2k2 for Pocket PC or use another browser such as Netfront. Netfront supports Javascript, Java and other features, and you can change the User-Agent directly on the program options.
