I used Blackberry Storm 1 but recently switched to Storm 2 which I purchased overseas.  When activated it automatically registered with Verizon wireless and sent a phone number.  Returning to NZ I loged on to 'my vodafone' to change the device.  It refused and said that I am with another provider.  When I called vodafone they said that I must get my pin released from Verizon firist to use my phone here.  I called Verizon and explained my problem.  Still waiting to hear from them.  I am only able to use Storm 2 to call and send/receive txt messages.  Can anyone help me with ideas.  What can I do if I am unable to get any help from Verizon?  Cry

Verizon is a CDMA network - is this BlackBerry Storm a CDMA/GSM device? If it is a dual mode unit you will have to get the PIN released and the unit SIM unlocked.

Thanks for a quick response.  The phone is dual model global, can work in NZ.  It is an unlocked phone and I am able to use vodafone sim card.  How easy is it to get the pin released?  Will verizon assit me on this?  If they don't what other option do I have?

Why would you want to go through the hassles of warranty etc? Vodafone should bring in the 9520 in soon.

I know but I am stuck with the storm 2 which I bought in Singapore. Unless some one help me to get my pin released I will have put this away. It is sad when I have paid some money to buy it. Verizon refuses to release the pin. They say that they do not have a store in Singapore and no one there has the right to sell the phone. What a mess. Are there any expert who could help me?

well in theory, the company you bought it from needs to supply it as being unlock, PM me your email, I have a free cellunlock.net coupon that I don't intend to use.

It must be unlocked as the Vodafone NZ SIM is logging onto the network

lol, thanks for pointing out that I didn't read the OP properly.

Edit, please confirm this for me

On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card. At that screen type MEPD on your keyboard. A new menu will pop up.Look for Network in the list. If your device is "unlocked", it should say Disabled or Inactive. If it says Active, it's still locked

Here is a thread on 'how to' on crackberry, once the above steps has been confirmed.

Edit, yet another how to off that thread.

I would tend to ask "Why is an American handset being sold in Singapore for?"

It smells of kippers to me..
